09-18-2006 - Beaver Creek , CO

- Five weeks available for participation during the winter season

Visitors looking for the opportunity to improve their skiing while enjoying the finest in luxury accommodations will be able to take advantage of the return of Technique Weeks at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for the 2006-2007 season. A joint venture between the Park Hyatt and Beaver Creek Ski Resort, Technique Week combines small class sizes with world-class instructors for the ultimate ski experience. The program is offered during five separate weeks from November through April, and features two new championship Ski Ambassadors in addition to dining, educational and spa elements.

Now in its tenth season, the 2006-2007 Technique Week programs include newly appointed Ski Ambassadors Deb Armstrong and Chris Anthony. Deb Armstrong is a 1984 Olympic gold medalist in the Giant Slalom and is currently an Ambassador of Skiing at Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico. Chris Anthony is a 1996 Alaskan Extreme Skiing champion and veteran of 17 Warren Miller films. Each ambassador will lead specific weeks throughout the season. In addition to ski instruction from Armstrong and Anthony, the world-class instruction team from the Vail/Beaver Creek Ski School will act as personal coaches throughout the week-long sessions.

“We’re thrilled that Chris and Deb have signed on for this year’s Technique Weeks,” said Scott Mason, Park Hyatt’s general manager. “While it has always been a world-class program, I think that the addition of these amazing Ambassadors, as well as the added amenities, propels Technique Weeks into a not-to-miss experience.”

Along with Park Hyatt’s new Ski Ambassadors, the Park Hyatt is adding additional exciting enhancements to the program. Such amenities include: a complete skiing evaluation with use of video analysis, a take-home ski adventure DVD highlighting skiers’ times throughout the week-long session, a nutritional and ski conditioning evening seminar and a certificate for services at the newly renovated Allegria Spa.

With 1,805 acres of skiable terrain and 146 ski runs at Beaver Creek Ski Resort, Technique Week skiers have access to countless runs, regardless of ability level, all week long. In addition, 180 acres of new terrain called Stone Creek will open for the 2006-2007 season on Beaver Creek Mountain, increasing skiable mountain terrain by one tenth.

Rates for the 2006-2007 Technique Weeks start at $1,850 per person for double occupancy and $2250 for single occupancy and continue up to $2450 for double occupancy or $3150 for single occupancy. The packages include: four or five night deluxe accommodations with breakfast daily, three or four days of skiing, personalized instruction with Deb Armstrong or Chris Anthony and a hand-selected teaching team from the Vail/Beaver Creek Ski School and an interchangeable three or four-day lift ticket for Vail and Beaver Creek.
