Chris Anthony is a Colorado native, University of Colorado graduate and longtime Vail & Denver resident. Chris has competed at an international level in both the sports of cycling and both alpine racing and big mountain skiing. Chris has filmed 27 years as athlete and on-screen personality with the Warren Miller film team. His feats are displayed in the annual Warren Miller feature film, numerous television programs and documentaries. He has free-lanced for several publications, co-authored a guidebook, commissioned to write a screenplay, and hosted and co-produced several television and film projects.

In 1991, Chris was named Youth Ambassador for the State of Colorado and was sent on a cultural exchange to the prefecture of Yamagata, Japan. In 1997, Chris was appointed to the Colorado Speakers Bureau and later Colorado Ski Country named Chris the spokesperson for their 5th & 6th Grade Passport Program. The Passport Program served as a platform for him to design his own youth project that has been in demand since 1999.

In 2014, Chris established his 501c foundation the “Chris Anthony Youth Initiative Project”. The mission of Chris Anthony Youth Initiative Project is to improve quality of life through introducing youth to educational and enrichment opportunities. Along with his own unique in school program, Chris has created strategic alliances with a number of organizations with similar goals in order to keep operation cost down. This past year Chris’s Youth Project interacted with over 10,000 students as well as handed out scholarships impacting over 200 kids.

After graduating from the University of Colorado, Chris studied for a period of time at the University of Southern California’s film school. In 2014, Chris partnered with the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum and Warren Miller Entertainment to co-produce an award-winning documentary project that he inspired and performed in titled “Climb to Glory”.  This documentary was released on a limited basis to benefit a number of educational or charitable organizations. Chris tours the film through the Colorado school system as part of his Youth Initiative Project.

Between film shoots, guiding and speaking engagements, Chris hosts specialized ski and bike programs under his company “Chris Anthony Adventures”. He has programs in Alaska, Iceland Italy, and Colorado. In addition, Chris coaches at the “Camp of the Superstars” annually in Portillo, Chile.

Chris broke away from skiing long enough to reach the pro ranks of the cycling world. In 1994, he found himself training and serving as motivator with three-time Tour De France Champion, Greg Lemond, in his last years of competition.

For the past 27 years, Chris Anthony has traveled as a member of the Warren Miller Film Team, freelanced for several publications, co-authored a guide book, been commissioned to write a screenplay, hosted and produced television programming, started a consulting and guide business, and given substantial time to a variety of charities. In 1991 Chris was named a youth Ambassador for the State of Colorado. As a youth Ambassador Chris was sent on a cultural exchange to the Prefecture of Yamagata, Japan.

Chris travels around the world with the Warren Miller film crew, which has taken him from Iran to Ecuador to China, with numerous stops in between. The experiences have been amazing, and sometimes border on the unusual, especially for a civilian, and most definitely for a professional skier. During his travels, Chris has spent time training with the U.S. Marine Corps at their training facility in Bridgeport, Nevada. He has also spent time with the U.S. Navy, filming on the USS Nimitz as it was being deployed to the Persian Gulf for the film “Off the Grid”. For the 2012 annual Warren Miller film Chris ties his adventures to the legacy of the legendary 10th Mountain Ski Troops of 1942 – 1946.

On snow since the age of one, Chris broke away from skiing long enough to reach the international ranks of the cycling world, receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado, study for a period of time at USC film school. He wrote two screenplays, one of which was covered by Warner Bros. The previously mentioned accomplishments opened many exciting doors for Chris.

In 1994 he found himself training and serving as motivator with three-time Tour De France Champion Greg Lemond in his last years of competition. He also had the opportunity to work with producer/director and actor Michael Douglas. Chris interned with Mr. Douglas and his partner Steven Reuther as they laid the groundwork for Douglas/Reuther Productions, a major film production company at Paramount Studios.

In 1997 Chris was appointed to the Colorado Speakers Bureau. In October of 1998 Chris was hired to design, direct and select athletes for the first nationally syndicated speed cross race aired on CBS. The inaugural event took place successfully in Mammoth, California on January 9th 1999.

This season Chris will continue to work with Warren Miller Entertainment, promoting and serving as emcee for the 63rd annual film as well as appearing in various documentaries, television and instructional productions.

Additionally, Chris will continue his work with Youth through his “Youth Initiative Project”. His initiative has raised over a million dollars for variety of non-profits benefiting them in through education and outdoor experience. Chris favorite program in the initiative are his school visits. Chris personally visits schools and talks our youth about chasing down their dreams, setting goals, working hard to achieve them and ultimately becoming a productive citizen. His multi-media presentations take the audience on cultural journey around the planet utilizing his exploits with the Warren Miller Film Team. He has tied the program to a number of organizations including “SOS Outreach”, “Boys and Girls Clubs of Denver”, “First Descents”, “Vail Valley Foundation”, “The School of Shred”, “Lake Eldora Ski and Snowboard Club”, “Montessori school of Denver”, “Vail Valley Charitable Fund”, “Heuga Center”, “E.P.I.C Foundation”, “Jeremy Blooms Wish of a Lifetime”, “Colorado Ski Museum”, “Ski & Snowboard Club Vail” and the “Children’s Hospital of Denver”.

Presently, Chris continues to conquer new mountainous terrain while evolving his commitment to his Youth Initiative Project. Additionally, Chris is active writing, participating in film projects, and managing his adventure camps. Chris shares his adventurous and outdoor lifestyle with the world by passing on innovative ideas as a helicopter ski guide and journalist, motivational speaker.

Chris is currently building his ski- industry consulting business. In its first year Chris spent time in Beijing, China helping to design a teaching model and resort layout for small ski hill just on the outskirts of the city.
